Mali Under the Night Sky, a Lao Story of Home, is the true story of Laotian American Artist Malichansouk Kouanchao, who walked with her family from Laos to Thailand when she was five years old. In this nonfiction children’s book that was a 2011 Skipping Stones Honor Book, Mali remembers the journey, as well as the beauty and strength of Laotian culture.
